Stopped By A Train

The dogs and I were stopped by a train the other night.
This crossing doesn't have arms or a light, just the train whistle to warn you.
So, I thought I would take advantage of the view while we waited.

And, as an added bonus, a couple of birds and a sunset or two.

The Before

I have shown you the "during" of the garden makeover, then I found these before pictures.
But first, can you find the poor soul who has carried a 3 gallon weed sprayer on his back across many acres of this farm?  Our 4-wheeler is REALLY broke, so we tried to borrow my mom's and it was kind of broke when we got it.  Still waiting on the part (its been months), so for now, this is his method of choice.

 Some before shots...
Now, you know why I really needed to do something.
I almost have it finished!  We have hauled a lot of rocks!
 The garden is growing nicely.
The view from the tractor with a load of goat poop compost.
And dumping.  Very exciting for you all, I'm sure.
Jasmine in the way like always.

Sexy Legs and Hidden Treasures

And so much more!

Like broken sprinklers.  That's always fun.  Boyd had to dig out a big hole so we could repair the line.  He has had a lot of experience digging holes, but it is never fun when there are more tree roots than dirt.
Got it fixed and the lawn is happy.
We're being over run by squirrels, AGAIN! This time though, we caught a magpie. Don't worry he was freed and unharmed.
The dogs and I joined Boyd one night while he was on Sand Hill Crane determent duty.   When I opened the front seat to put the camera away, Buddy hopped in and called "Shotgun".   I seriously don't know what that was all about because he only ever gets to ride in the back.

The corn is coming up nicely.  The Sand Hills left it alone while it was in seed thanks to a secret ingredient Boyd used while planting.  Normally, they will eat row after row of newly planted seed.  They haven't really bothered us this year, that is not until the corn came up.  They still like the tender plants.

Can you see that Boyd has been burning ditches?   Remember that fact when you finally get to see the sexy legs.
Can you see the row that was double planted?  Yeah, there were about 5 of those thanks to a planter chain slipping off and the wiring hooked up wrong.  Long story about that, but Boyd fixed someone else's mistake and hopefully we won't have that issue again.

And now for the hidden treasures.   (You're just gonna have to wait for the sexy legs.)
It is much easier to see the hidden treasures on the ditch bank once the weeds have been burned off.
All kinds of old parts appear.
 Including animal bones.
 And foreign car parts.
And, just because you can't have enough dog pictures in one post.
Do you think she is pulling that face because she can't handle the sexiest legs ever?
Well, here they are...
Yep, I married all that goodness!   The ditch banks aren't the only things that are smokin' hot!

Because She Can

Notice anything wrong with this picture?
 How about now?
Or now?
It seems that when the goats are out eating down the weeds, the dog decides to eat their leftovers. And when I say leftovers, I really mean "leftovers".
Buddy, of course, is always on duty.
When she isn't trespassing in the goat pen, she is busy staring down the bird nest in-between  the walls of the chicken coop.
She'll stay there for hours.  Literally.
And we'll close with a close up video.  I do not know why the video is upside down.

Temple at Night

So, none of these are great, not even good, but it was fun.  Boyd called me from the South Farm and told me to come over with my camera.   We ended up on a dirt road south of the high school.  I just enjoyed the skunk smell and the peaceful night.
I also played around with the exposure settings.

For those that might not know, that's the high school in the bottom right.
Same shot, different exposure.  Kind of makes it look like it is floating.

And the jail above and Big J Mill below.
