Enjoying the Fire

After knocking down a few trees, Boyd sawed them up into stove sized pieces.

These were then stacked up to burn in the stove in the old house.

Anything that was too mishaped is used in our fire pit.
This silly dog loves to take cover under Boyd.

Bear River - November 2018

Sadly, I didn't get many chances to take the boat out on the river this summer.  I took one last boat ride before it was put away for the season.

Trip to Vernal - Nov. 2018

We took a day trip out to Vernal on November 3rd for my aunt Shirley's funeral.  It also just happened to be her birthday also.   We left at 5:00 AM and it seemed like FOREVER before we saw the sunrise.  Our pit stop was the McDonalds in Heber, which it turns out was a pretty popular stop.  The place was ridiculously crowded for that early on a Saturday morning.   Not long after we left Heber and made it up Daniel's and past Strawberry, we saw the first glimpse of the sun.  I started taking random videos just so my family members could relive the journey with us.  A journey we have all made countless times in our life.  See if you can spy the red light!  :)

We had talked about doing a bit of sight seeing and possibly even staying out a day longer to drive up to Blue Mountain.  After a bit of discussion it just didn't see worth it, so we bagged that idea and just thought we would drive out and back without any side excursions.   Turns out we stopped at the McKonkie petroglyphs, something I had never seen in all the trips we have taken to Vernal. How is it that my parents deprived me of this treasure for this long?  And, my aunt Sybil?  She couldn't be bothered to take me there either! :)  And, both my sisters brought a change of clothes, but I didn't even bring a better pair of shoes. The video is long and you can find even better images of the petroglyphs on the links below.

After we left the McKonkie Ranch, we decided to take the "back roads" to Roosevelt.  My mom pitched a fit and told us we were crazy, only to follow it up afterwards with a "Now, that was fun. I'm glad we came this way!".  Honestly!!   :)

A Quick Trip to Oneida

Our annual trip to Oneida just about didn't happen this year.  Thanks to Jess and her persuasive powers, she managed to convince a few of us to join her in the cold November air.

Taking the dogs along was bantered back and forth, but ultimately they joined us.  Turned out they had the most fun of all and kept the rest of us entertained.

The pictures I stole from Jess - but it was quite the sight to see them all anxious to get out of the truck!  Not sure why as I had dog beds covering every square inch to keep the three geriatric dogs as comfy as possible.

We had a good time shivering in the wind, watching the dogs and playing cards until the wind swept them off the table.
