October Sky

And in here somewhere, you will find two deer.
 Can you see them?

Maggie's a great retriever.  Why is it then that when the men are hunting she is left home to play fetch in the river with the women?

Just in time for Halloween

Headed home from work tonight all excited because traffic had been so calm.  I glanced in my mirror to change lanes and happened to look up above my head.  This is what my eyes met...
Yep, just hanging out inches above my head.
The good news, I was only moments away from my exit, cause otherwise, I would have been quite the attraction off the side of the freeway.   As it was, plenty of people saw me freak out just past the underpass by Brigham Implement.
Of course I had to get a picture.  This guy was easily two inches across from leg to other long leg.
Next step, how to get it OUT!   I found an ice scraper and opened both doors.  I swiped hard at the spider with the scraper, made good contact and thought all was well until the spider on its web flung back at me.  You know, momentum on a pendulum and all.  Yea, I screamed, danced freakishly, flipped my hair which then tickled my neck and made me think the spider really did land on my head.   After I searched and hopefully determined it wasn't on me, I looked under everything in my car.  I finally found it by the radio.  I used the bristle part of the scraper and squished it enough that it didn't move any more.  Using some convenient nearby litter, I maneuvered it out of my car and flung it somewhere along HWY 13.
I recovered enough to head on home only to be down the road a bit and have a boy in an old Camaro about make a left turn right on top of me.  I slammed on the horn, slid over just in time to avoid a collision.   The last five minutes of my commute added a good 10 years of stress to my life.

Coyote Whisperer

Last night, Boyd's waiver turned spooky.  Mind you, he's been shot at on a waiver, had owls hover over his head while walking, even had horses follow his every step, but this was different.
He parked the Bronco in a different spot than usual and had walked out about 200 yds to a historical marker when he heard yips and yaps from all over the area.  At first he thought it might be birds, but then he decided otherwise.   He soon found himself talking with coyotes.  It is hard to hear on the video, but one coyote answered him back every time.  Crank the volume and decide if you would have been spooked or not.

I'm Trying

I'm trying to be better at blogging. My husband blames it on my job.  Maybe that is the problem.  My job is using up every brain cell I have and then some.  I love my new job, every aspect of it, but it is more than I can keep up with right now. I was bored before, not any more!  I also think my lack of posting might partially be due to the fact that my mom isn't far away in Indiana anymore.  I blogged because I thought it kept her sane.  I suppose the reasons really don't matter, I just need to get back in gear and take more photos.

So, shall we move on to snakes now?    I know I have blogged about this before, but here it is again.  This poor snake escaped at least four times.  I hope it made it to safety.
Snake sighting #1:  Jasmin happily trots up to the old house and drops it to the side of the tractor Boyd is working on and plops down beside it.  The snake is right side up and survives not only Jasmin, but Buddy playing with it.  I distract them and we move away for about 15 minutes.
Snake sighting #2:  Came back and the snake was no longer in front of the tractor.  I think all is well, until Jasmin comes again and plops the snake in the same spot.  This time upside down.   I am certain it is dead by now so I give up.  We leave the scene again.
Snake sighting #3:  To my surprise the snake is now in front of the red trailer.  How it flipped itself over and made it that far, I don't know.  Jasmin is messing with it again and I make her leave.
Not a very exciting story, I know, but it is the best I have for today.

Someone moved more than 1,000 sheep down our road and I didn't see it.  I am so sad about it.
And I tried to get some great sunset shots, but all I got were mediocre shots because the light was pathetic.

Birds, yep, nothing more to say.

The Last of the Last

The last of the Yellowstone photos from our last day on vacation.  Don't worry, I still have videos yet to come.
