Boyd - The Head Honcho

This guy is stuck with me and my menagerie of animals and crazy ideas.  Serves him right, I always tell him.
He loves eating at El Toro Viejo.  Give the choice, he chooses Cilantro Chicken every time.
He also likes getting a breakfast burrito, usually at the Golden Spike in Corinne. Then he burns the paper bag.  And, sometimes, he accidentally also burns the back yard.
We have a tank of sorts in our lawn. Many years ago Boyd built a "lid" to make it safe.  Safe until one day he sat down on it and almost fell in and down the 10 some odd feet of the round tank.  Too scary!  The wood had rotted over time.  Lucky for all of us, he has since rebuilt it.

We also paid off a large farm debt to one of Boyd's siblings.  Long story that dates back to settling his mother's estate, but a significant milestone to have accomplished.  During the "discussions" with the accountant and the lawyer and all the family members way back then, someone made the comment that Boyd needed to be prepared to drive the same truck for the next ten years.  Sure enough!  He still does and we drove the truck to finalize the documents as proof.
Here he is with his '91 Ford F150 and holding the pay off check and documents about eleven years after the initial meetings.
He is a bit more gray and the truck a bit more rusted, but they are still farming together.

Watering Corn

Boyd is on his third round of watering corn.
I don't think he counts the summer by weeks and months, but more by how many more times he has left to water corn.
Sometimes he lets Jasmine and I join him.

On this day, he had more water than he needed.  Other days, he is scrounging for any drops he can find.
Jasmine loves to dig for mice.
After we changed the water, we went up to the top of the ditch and put our feet in the water under the shade of the only tree around.
Well, Jasmine and I put our bare feet in, Boyd kept his boots on.  Party Pooper!
He said it was the closest thing to vacation he has had some years.

U. S. Cloud

This is from a while back, but still kind of cool.
To me, it looks like the United States.

Row Boat

Years ago, my dad and I bought a row boat together.  He used it to fish on occasion.  Since his death, it has sat in my mom's back yard.  I have half-heartedly tried to sell it, but never succeeded.

With help from my husband, I now have the boat at my house and have launched it in the river a few times.

I really really like using it!!!!  It takes a bit of practice to get the rowing skills mastered, but I am making progress.

Belle and Gilligan

The cats don't love posing for photos which is why they get less attention here on the blog.
I try to play with them each evening. We all wish it wasn't quite so hot!

Most of the time the dogs and the cats have kept a safe distance.  Lately, however, Belle has decided that Jasmine isn't a threat.  Hope this peace treaty lasts!
