We have harvested the corn, but not before Boyd spent a month or so testing the moisture level.
Every so many days, he would walk through the fields and gather ears of corn from random locations.
Then he had to pull all the kernels off the ears.
Not an easy task. Then it all gets mixed together to get an average moisture level.
Then in to the tester it goes.
The goal is less than 15%. Just dry enough that Scoular's will take it and still moist enough to add a bit of weight when you cross the scales.
Having a cute Golden Retriever waiting for a sample helps too.
Hard to see, but blisters are almost guaranteed!
