What is it?

We have an assortment of old farm machinery around here.  This one is fascinating to me.  It looks so dangerous.  Boyd actually got it running last year.  Not because he needed to use it, but just to say he could.  Can you name it or at least guess its' purpose?

Don't have any idea?  Here are some clues: the colors are like the color of the crop it harvests, the squirrels love to call it home and it has a chute.
