Laddie thinks it is great fun to wrestle with Jasmine and mostly she can handle it. However, he is sometimes over zealous and needs to burn some CRAZY. Compound that with the fact that the last litter of Baton pups was down to one male that needed a home and for 12 hours, we gave it a try.
Sunday night went well. Both dogs played and chased and ran like wild dogs. All the while, Jasmine was free to wander and investigate without the worry of a surprise attack from the rear.
We decided to keep the pup overnight to see how things continued.
Lucky for us, that was when reality showed up.
I didn't really want three dogs. I was worried about pack dominance and was certain I couldn't maintain top dog status. I am barely hanging on to any control as it is with just two dogs. So, when the little puppy tried to steal food with a growl from both Jasmine and Laddie, when he didn't seem a bit interested in playing with Laddie - try as Laddie might, it was time to call it a no go. I didn't need to be dealing with any issues that early on. We will just continue to bring Maggy over when Laddie needs to burn off his energy.
We returned the adorable little guy back to his parents and will hope to hang on to the edge of our sanity for as long as we can.
