Snow on the Roof

The 2-Ton shed, which is barely standing anyway, really took a hit with all this heavy snow.   Boyd got the 2-Ton out and some of the siphon tubes.  After that, if it collapsed, so be it.  Well, that was his attitude until today.  Today he decided he wanted to get the snow off. He taped a broom handle to the landscape rake and did what he could.  The east side needed some help getting high enough so we used the tractor and bale fork.

While I was up there, I took a few snapshots.

A New Roof

There are plenty of things around here that need to be remodeled, replaced, redone.  Sadly, first priority, more important than a new bathroom, was a new roof for the goats.

Good thing my husband knows how to fix everything.  You can see that the wood was rotting and it was leaking.

 So, we replaced the rolled roofing and the wood...

 with new wood and tin roofing.

 There were a few minor injuries.  It just means I need more practice with pliers, a hammer and roofing nails.

 We even added a drip edge.

 We increased the front overhang.  Hopefully, this will help when the snow is piled high.

 My husband didn't even yell at me too often. :)  Now, that's a good days work. 

Sorry Woody!

One day Boyd was sitting at the computer and could hear something tapping against the house.  It came from different spots, including the air conditioner.  When he looked out on the lawn he saw a confused woodpecker.  He has probably been around this farm for years and always pecked on our house.  Imagine his surprise to find that we sided all the wood in aluminum!

No pictures of the woodpecker, but here is the last of the roof update photos.  The new rain gutter!

Up on the Housetop

New Look

The new roof, etc, is coming along.  Things look good if you look up.  If you look down, you see nails, shingles, and assorted other chunks of trash.  Clean up after it is over will take forever.

 I'll ask Boyd to get back on the roof and get some better shots for you soon.

Farmer on the Roof

Since the day I became part owner of the Dismal Land and Livestock Company, Boyd has said we need a new roof.  We finally decided this was the summer to redo the shingles, it seemed like we were always picking up shingles from the lawn.  Boyd took the photos and he did a great job.    I would like to add that the only rain we have had in months happened the morning after they stripped the roof down to the plywood.  Yeah, go figure!  The wind has continued and was blowing the stripped shingles from the south side of the house under the carport and into the north hayfield.  Can't wait until we bale that mess!
