Tormenter Extrodanaire

Every time Laddie acts super perturbed and anxious, I know Francine can't be too far away.
This time she decided to plop herself right on top of the dog food barrel.
Where she stayed and stared down all who dared look her way.

Until she finally decided Laddie had been tormented enough for one afternoon.
Just when I was afraid she was the only cat left, these two made a return appearance.
The showed up for breakfast the morning after Belle died.
I finally found some time to hang in my hammock.

Belle

And, then, there was one.  We started the summer with 5 cats and we are now down to 1.

Belle passed away today.  She hasn't been really healthy for a while, but seemed to be okay and not in any pain.  She still ate, sunned herself and enjoyed attention. Yesterday morning she took a serious nose dive and we had planned to take her to the vet today and have her put down, but she beat us to it and died during the night.

Belle was the first stray that stayed long term around here.  She showed up mostly dead and frozen one January night and just never left.  http://dismalland.blogspot.com/2013/01/belle.html

She used to fight a bit with Satan, but at some point they made a truce.  You could usually find her laying in a sunny spot somewhere in the old house.

Good-bye to these two... Belle and Gilligan.

Hay for the Goats

Little by little we are getting ready for winter around here.
We took out the air conditioners last week and also got the haystack ready for the winter snow.
First step was to move out the two uneaten bales.
Then, clean up the old hay mess and set up the pallets.
 First two bales coming in.

Then, we added one more and the decent bale from last year.   I use the old dog run to keep the goats out.  Works pretty well and even allows me to feed right over the fence.

Something for October

While I was waiting for these photos to load, I looked back over my blog since it began.
I was a lot more creative, verbose and interesting back then, wasn't I?
Oh well, times change, people change and that's the best excuse I have.

Yet, some things never change. I still take sunset photos.
 And cloud photos.
 And cat photos.

And some random critter continues to eat my hard work year after year.
Plus, we still enjoy a campfire when the weather cools down.
