The Dismal Land and Livestock Buffet is very popular with just about everyone. Our current specials feature safflower and corn. These delicacies are in high demand from mice to deer and anything in-between and they love Take-Out or is someone delivering it?
The proof is in the pictures...
As you can see, it is in every room and in every corner.
This is what he shook out of the toes of his insulated waders, both the picture above and the one below.
They eat the soft seed inside and leave behind the hull.
The safflower was stacked in the old kitchen room and was getting devoured at a good rate. Boyd decided he would move it to the room with where the cats live and let them earn their keep. Didn't make a bit of difference. He finally gave up and bought trash cans ($130 ! ) to store the seed.
This will do the trick for saving the safflower at least.
Now, where can we buy a can big enough to cover the corn?
Here's Boyd heading through the corn, it doesn't seem like there are too many birds.
Yeah, you'd be wrong!
And what the birds don't eat, the deer, raccoon and who knows what else do.
The only good news is that many neighbors have spotted a coyote in the corn field. Let's hope he is keeping out some of the critters. My dogs seemed edgy tonight, so maybe the coyote was close by.
And, lastly, my excuse for not posting much lately. I am tired of gloomy skies. This photo almost looks black and white, but it is in full color. It's just that black and white and gray is the current extent of color around here.

Smart as a Goose
Just like the pheasants and turkeys that are smart enough to disappear when the hunt is on, now that the goose season is over, they are EVERYWHERE! Overhead, in the fields, on the river. I love it!

This is the link to the winners of the contest listed in my previous post. Once again, the first place winner wasn't my favorite. What do you think?

iheartfaces
Just today I read about a photo contest/blog site called iheartfaces. This week's contest topic is, "Innocent Wonder". As soon as I read it I thought of this photo...
Here is another shot of Haylee. She LOVES to pose for the camera. I'll have to invite her over for a photo shoot soon.
Anndee took the photo with my new (at the time) camera. Too bad the contest closed before I had time to enter. I will check the site and post a link to the winning photos. The contest seems to be open to professional as well as amateur, so it should be interesting. I checked past contest winning photos and I liked the the ones down the list better than the winning photos. What does that mean, I wonder? I guess it means I don't know how to judge a winning photo.

Morning Light
"Time for another post, you're falling behind", said the husband.
Hmmm, but what if there isn't anything to post? All I can offer is a video made during the early morning chore hours. I was testing my new video camera's ability to film in extremely low light. It is usually very peaceful, but this particular morning the neighbor's dog was busy barking.

Can You Believe It?
Surprise, surprise! More pictures of sunsets. If it weren't for sunsets, I wouldn't have anything to post.
