Dove Update

The parent doves are at the nest less and less now. I see them both hanging around, but there really isn't any room for them in the nest now.
Original image of the nest and eggs taken on May 10th.

Then, the next time I got around to taking a picture was May 30th and this is how the babies looked.

Then, on June 2nd.
Finally, on June 4th.  I really need to take a step ladder out with me before they actually learn to fly!  I think I'm going to miss them when they're gone!

Start of Summer

Friday was the last day of school!  Now, we can start summer.  Not that it means much to me, since I work year round.  I don't have to correct work, do web chats though.
I need to think of some fun things to do so that in August I can at least pretend that I did something.
Maybe I will pain my bedroom finally.
I hope to take the canoe out at least once a week.
Maybe do some bonfires down by the river.

In the mean time, I know I will continue on with some things never changing.  Like this scene.
Boyd and Sage (AKA Poindexter or Seymour) have this great love hate relationship.  Mostly the goat loves Boyd and Boyd tolerates (on a good day) the goat.
Buddy and Jasmine still love the river, even though I am sure this is where we are picking up the ticks. It is also where we are meeting up with the skunks.  Jasmine got sprayed and then not 10 minutes later dove back into the same bush looking for more trouble.  Not the world's smartest dog.  At least I was smart enough to leave at that point.  I don't want to hang around where a dumb dog is going to get me sprayed.
The neighbors put cows back on their land and Jasmine thinks it is her duty to warn them to stay on their own side.
She needs to do a better job as we have already had one trespasser. Which makes this sign so funny!  Really???  You need to put a sign on our side of the fence warning us not to trespass?  I feel like flipping the sign to the other side of the fence to make it applicable.
Then, there's this guy and his portable flaming torch of utter destruction.  And, completely off topic: I'm mesmerized with the light coming through the tractor window.
Just a shot of Boyd working the field.  A definite start of summer activity.
And this one, how she catches these birds I will never know.

And, lastly, a sure sign that summer is here.  A shirtless man and his dog paddling down the river in a canoe.  A good reason for me to spend more time hanging out down there. :)   Sorry, not a close up at all.  I was trying to be discreet.  I guess I could have asked him to paddle closer and pose.  Next time, for sure!

Memorial Day

Doesn't the headstone for my dad's and sister's grave look nice?  You would never know that months ago it was smashed into by someone joy riding through the cemetery.  The entire headstone was drug about 5 to 6 feet away and the car ended up high centered and abandoned resting on top.  It was covered with anti-freeze and oil and skid marks from the tires.  The bottom granite has chunks missing.  The driver was eventually caught, and after lying to police (including the kid's mother), when the court date finally rolled around he did admit his guilt.  He has to pay to replace it.  Time will tell if we ever get all the money back.
The pine cones on top are a tradition started by my aunt who lives on the east coast.  She told us to put a pine cone on top when we visit for her, since she lives so far away.

We also decorated graves for Boyd's family.  We do his parents, his brother, grandmother and then extended family - great grandparents, etc.  His family line makes him related to most of Brigham City.
The picture above was taken as Boyd discovered the flowers we left had been stolen.  This would be from the pioneer graves of his great grandparents.  We soon discovered that someone had taken a total of 7 small pots and one big pot.  You can see from the photo below, they aren't really worth much monetarily. I paid less than $10 for the big container and the cost of the smaller pot would be a couple of dollars and had maybe 4 petunias per pot.  Really!!!???  The flowers on graves connected to the Reeder side were all still there.  Just the flowers on graves connected to the Nelson side were stolen. They took the big pot off of his grandmother's grave and then the smaller ones off her parents, grandparents, etc.   There was a previous year when we had a couple of pots stolen from this same family line, but they were in fancier pots.  So, I started just putting the flowers in cheap pots from Walmart.   Even that didn't stop the thievery!!!     So truly annoying!

Senior Photos - Tay Bug

We tried to show all of the activities and groups Taylor was involved in by using the uniforms, etc from the clubs and teams.   Not sure we got the message across, but we had fun.
