Completely Random

A special thanks to Mom and Sybil for checking in on this blog.  I will try to post more often so you will keep coming back.  And... as you can tell, I figured out how to get rid of the template I had recently, wahoo!

The fox is becoming a nuisance.  (No, I don't need my trigger happy relatives to take care of it for me.) He comes every day and heads west, then hours later he returns and heads east.   Haylee, Morgan, Jen and I encountered it returning one day when we were down at the dog park.  He ran off when he finally got around to noticing us.  Jasmine chased it last night,  she also chased deer in the morning.

I have seen three snakes in one week.  They are each about 2.5 to 3 ft long.  I saw one by the river, one in the garden and the other by the Duck/No Duck pond.  Jasmine caught one and was hauling it around in her mouth.

The Washington Monument's got nothing on us.  You gotta admit, there are some similarities.

Tonight's sky.  Yeah, we're getting more rain, wind, lightning, thunder, you name it.
A simple game of... Where is it?
Just tell me where I found it on the farm and you get a point.  I'm guessing Boyd will win.

Opinions Wanted

So, first off, I don't know how to undo what I have just done to the blog and I hate it.  Oh, well!  I tried out the new blogger design.  I had fun playing around, but I don't know how to get it back choosing the old template.  Anyone smarter than me want to offer a suggestion? I am sure it is simple enough.

More importantly, the local Farm Bureau is having a photo contest ( I hope for amateurs only) and my husband thinks I should enter.  The categories are "All In A Days Work", "Kids In The Country", and "Utah's Best" (nature scenes).  Any suggestions from the pictures I have previously posted on this blog?  I don't have any kids, but I know a few I could borrow.  I even know of a cute little blonde girl and her twin brothers who are coming to visit soon.  Maybe they could pose for me.  I also guess I need to take more pictures of my farmer in action, I mostly have pictures of him stuck in a field somewhere.  I have so many nature scenes that I don't know where to begin choosing.  The following pictures are some I am considering.  Please, please, please comment.  I need some advice.

The planting is finished!

Everyone congratulate Boyd, he finally beat the weather and finished planting.  He even used his new grain drill.   Now, we need to stop the rain so he can cut the hay.  The fun never ends!

Rainbows

Snowballs

The snowball bush was gorgeous this year.  Never mind that it didn't bloom until after Memorial Day.    By the way, mom, your peonies were also pretty this year.  I should have taken a picture.
Just an interesting picture of my potted flowers with the sprinklers on.  And, my new lawn is finally looking like it will make it.

I should have chosen a houseboat!

The river is rising and I am afraid my new summer home might be afloat before morning.
Not only that, the safflower Boyd just finished planting today, is close to being flooded.
Last year, the water was higher, but that happened much earlier in the year.   You can see how much of the dog park was covered then.
I should have moved the tent, but I am hoping for the best.

Satan

Contrary to what her name might suggest, Satan is a great cat.  She is the mother of Gilligan and Bob (who died last summer).   She is smart enough to stay away from the dogs and she doesn't demand attention.

Coincidence???

The turkeys vanished the week the hunt opened.  They were gone up until the last day of May, the last official day of the turkey hunt.   Coincidence?
I also hadn't seen much of the fox family during this time.  Now that the turkeys are back, I have seen the male fox almost every day.  Coincidence?

New Summer Home

Since my school is no longer year round and I will have more free time (yeah, right!), I decided I need a summer home, a place to retreat and enjoy nature.  I thought long and hard about what kind of location and house I would want.

  I considered this...
 Or this...

Or maybe this...

I finally settled on this...

Because "Be it ever so humble, there really isn't any place like home".
And, since I took this picture from the lawn of my official residence, the short commute makes for a convenient weekend getaway.
